L’histoire de l’écomusée

The history of the ecomuseum

Year 2013: the genesis

Year 2019-2022: the project

Year 2022: the opening

On the family farm, in OUDEZEELE (59670), Bernard, keen on old agricultural equipment, began to collect old agricultural machinery. A collection that grows and grows as fast as the virus of restoring those old machines. This is how he gives birth to the "ROOTS OF RURAL LIFE".

First observation: what to do with all these agricultural machines steeped in history and accumulated over several years?

The acquisition of a real estate complex is essential.

The request for authorization of an ERP is filed and granted.

Over the years, without stopping, Bernard enriches the collection of the ecomuseum "THE ROOTS OF RURAL LIFE".

The project is taking shape and soon, a 2,000 m² building will be opened, intended to present visitors with all the old tractor machines accumulated, fully rehabilitated and secured.

A place of sharing and conservation

Through this history and this anecdote, the approach of our association is of course to make people discover the agricultural heritage, to preserve it and to enhance it...

But even more, to share our passion.

Our particularity: all our old machines, threshers, reapers and binders are in working order. An appointment not to be missed for all enthusiasts of old mechanics, collectors, but also lovers of rural traditions.

It's time to rediscover the pleasure of going out and growing in complete safety.

The "THE ROOTS OF RURAL LIFE" eco-museum opens its doors. The collections retracing the history of agricultural machinery are spread over a building of almost 2000m².

In addition to these collections, there is also the astonishing collection dedicated to trades (blacksmith, wheelwright, etc.).

Glad to welcome you!!!
